A hardworking Martial arts fighter who counts film production and bar work as his day jobs is preparing for his toughest challenge to date, a Muay Thai fight.

Jay Connor, from Essex has begun training for his first fight and will have his journey leading up to the fight filmed and made into a series of documentaries to be called ‘Jay Connor – My First Fight’.

Jay who thought he would never fight after an injury last year told us “I started when I was about 18.I thought I am in pain anyway, so I might as well enjoy myself. I am excited, it is going to be a lot of hard work. I have been off for about a year in rehabilitation for my knee, but I have got six months to prepare.”

Jay is now seeking sponsorship ahead of his first fight as he trains at MMA Clinic in Romford. He is hoping that some local businesses will want to get behind him to sponsor training costs, equipment costs and other costs leading onto his first fight.

Now online TV channel Essex TV is making a documentary on Jay and his journey. Essex TV is a local IPTV channel in Essex, England, which launched at 9:30am on the 28th April 2016.The channel transmits local news, current affairs, sports, arts, events and entertainment.

The channel’s reported move to Sky could mean Jay would make his debut TV appearance on his documentary, a channel spokesperson said “We like what Jay is trying to do and we are eager to support him all the way. We think there is so much lessons and entertainment that viewers will be able to take out of this documentary.

Jay told us “The gym I am at now are like a family, it is just like a great family place.

“I teach the children’s classes and it is great to see the kids’ confidence grow. That is so enjoyable to see. It has changed my life and built up my self-esteem and confidence.”

Jay trains hard also going to a traditional gym for weight training. He hopes in the future, he may be able to run his own gym and pass on his experience to the next generation of would-be fighters.
