- Gonzalo Higuain was Argentina’s hero with a well struck and decisive early goal that took La Albiceleste to a 2-1 victory over a disappointing Belgium team.
- Tim Krul rose from the bench in injury time of extra time and inspired the Netherlands to a 4-3 win over Costa Rica on penalties and a FIFA World Cup™ semi-final with Argentina.
